This is a perfect example of the "licensing syndrome" that seems to have befallen Lucasfilm. The quality of this film is half of TPM's, which is just sad. No offense to the late Richard Marquand, but this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. However, a reason may have been found. According to several actors [from the movies], quoted in "The Unauthorized Star Wars Compendium" by Ted Edwards, George Lucas actually "directed Marquand's direction". The quotes will be posted tomorrow.
